Remember When Vintage Postcards Interview

By Interviewer at 05/30/09 10:02

Name of your website?

Remember When Vintage Postcards

Your name?

Pamela Franzmeier

Your Location (city, etc)

River Falls, WI

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Collectibles store of antique and vintage postcards in many topics, plus victorian trade cards. Includes preservation, reference information, and holiday postcard gallery.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

A love of postcard collecting, particularly Santa Claus postcards.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

My first store was on eBay in 2001. I moved to an on-line antiques mall for a couple of years. I returned to selling on-line with a new eBay store in 2006 and added my own web site in March 2009.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

An honest desire to help collectors build their postcard collection with quality, eye-pleasing, harder to find postcards. I also provide accurate descriptions and an image of the postcard and trade card's back as well.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I will keep it for income and a way to afford adding to my own collection.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Sure. Millions of postcards were published in the early part of the century, so finding enough collectible postcards and trade cards from my many sources to offer customers is not a problem.

What has been your biggest challenge?

I've had to learn so much about SEO and link building.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

So far, submitting my site to directories with antique and collectible categories.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I just started my independant web site in March of 2009. I will continue to keep it up and running for the long haul. Mortgages don't pay themselves, lol.

What is your website address?
